About the Organisation
The Victorian Music Teachers’ Association (VMTA) is a not-for-profit professional association and peak body representing the interests of instrumental music teachers in Victoria and the broader community. VMTA provides a range of services to music teachers and their students including professional learning events, performance opportunities, information, advocacy and advice.
VMTA has a proud tradition of serving instrumental and vocal teachers, and their students, from all over Victoria and beyond. For almost 100 years, the Association has brought musicians together in a professional organisation, in order to help them achieve their teaching goals and to foster high standards in music education.

The successful applicant will serve an initial 1-year term to be reviewed annually.
Job Description
A voluntary Board comprising up to eight (8) Board Directors (6 Member Elected and 2 Board Appointed) meets five times a year via Zoom.
In conjunction with the Association Manager, the Board is responsible for ensuring the Association adheres to Best Practice Governance principles, has appropriate policies in place, acts with duty of care, and is financially viable.
Working Groups also meet monthly, across a variety of categories, to review, plan and implement a range of governance and operational initiatives. Although Board Appointed/External Directors are encouraged to attend any of these as applicable to their area of expertise/interest, there is no mandate around this.
