The Position
The Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID) is the peak professional body for infectious diseases and clinical microbiology in Australasia. ASID advances the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, enhancing the lives of everyone, now and into the future.
Reporting to and working closely with the President and Board, the CEO will provide leadership of the Society’s operations to support the achievement of the mission and objectives of ASID. The CEO will continue to build membership engagement (specialists in their respective fields across hospital and university environments), partnering with them to provide member support, including in event management and advocacy. Providing financial management and strong governance, the CEO will ensure systems and processes are embedded to support the efficient operations and compliance with standards and regulations necessary for ASID. Leading a small but engaged and dedicated team across a virtual environment, including some face to face meetings periodically with staff, board and scientific events, the CEO will build capability and contribute to innovative future growth strategies.
The incumbent will bring expertise as a senior leader from within a society, membership, NFP or education environment. With a strong commercial operational lens, governance experience and well-developed financial acumen, the CEO will be innovative and collaborative to ensure operational excellence. The CEO will be a supportive leader who inspires and engages the team, Board and membership of ASID to support the needs of the organisation and stakeholder network. The ability to influence and negotiate across a broad stakeholder environment, as well as the ability to work in an agile organisation, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality are key to the success of this role. Knowledge or experience working in the health sector will be desirable, as will experience in corporate governance.

Our membership includes infectious diseases physicians, clinical microbiologists, scientists, public health physicians, academics, and policymakers. Our shared goal is to ultimately make a difference. To improve the quality of life for everyone, through advancing the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in Australasian and global communities.
ASID is a Professional Association representing around 1,200 primarily within Australia and New Zealand. ASID is a company limited by guarantee, and registered Health Promotion Charity, and is a medium to large charity according to the ACNC definition.
