Chief Executive Officer – Gas Energy Australia

Gas Energy Australia (GEA) is the national peak body representing the LPG industry. Their mission is to advocate for the benefits of gaseous fuels, support industry growth, and drive policy development to ensure LPG remains an integral part of Australia’s energy mix. GEA collaborates with federal and state governments, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to promote LPG and its renewable alternatives. Representing Australia's leading gas providers, Gas Energy Australia is committed to the responsible promotion of downstream gas, its use in 7 million Aussie homes and 130,000 businesses, as well as its reliance in supporting domestic manufacturing industries.

We are seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead GEA’s strategic direction, governance, and industry advocacy efforts. In this role, you will oversee policy development, manage key relationships with government bodies, and act as the public face of the organisation, building relationships with media and key stakeholders. The CEO will also ensure the organisation remains financially sustainable by managing budgets and regularly reporting to the Board on financial performance.

In addition to financial leadership, you will be responsible for leading the internal team and fostering a high-performance culture. You will provide direction and guidance to ensure the Secretariat operates effectively and efficiently, supporting the overall objectives of GEA. A focus on organisational leadership will be critical as you manage the development of staff and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment. The CEO will play a key role in growing the association’s membership, driving technical standards, and promoting the safety and development of the LPG sector.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate a strong track record of executive leadership within an industry association or similar. You will possess excellent stakeholder management skills, experience in advocacy, organisational leadership, and financial management expertise. Additionally, you will have the ability to expand membership engagement and growth. A background in the energy sector and a deep understanding of government policy development are highly regarded.
